Walking into a strip club for the first time can feel intimidating. It doesn’t need to be. Canadian clubs are generally relaxed, professional venues — closer to a bar with entertainment than anything you’ve seen in the movies.
Getting In: Cover Charges and ID
Most Canadian strip clubs charge a cover — usually between $5 and $20 depending on the city and night. You’ll need government-issued ID. No exceptions. Dress code varies — smart-casual is safe when in doubt.
Inside the Club
You’ll walk into a main room with a stage, a bar, and tables. Drinks are usually full bar prices or higher. Most clubs have a one-drink minimum if you’re occupying a seat.
Tipping on Stage
When performers are on stage, tipping is expected. The standard in Canada is $1 to $5 per song. Walk up to the stage edge and place the bill on the stage. Don’t touch — you watch, you tip, you keep your hands to yourself.
Lap Dances
Lap dances are offered by performers between their stage sets. The standard rate in Canada is roughly $20 to $40 per song. No touching without clear consent from the performer. Pay immediately after the dance.
General Etiquette
Be polite — these are professionals doing a job. No photos or video, ever. Don’t be drunk before you arrive. If you’re with a group, keep the group in check.
